<Too tight in my jeans> began with a move — the artist’s arrival in Seoul. Capucine Merle allowed herself to get lost in this new environment, drifting between confusion and focus, open to whatever the unknown might bring. In that floating state, she held on to simple, familiar things — quiet an- chors that carry shared, collective meanings.

In this exhibition, Capucine brings together everyday utilitarian objects — related to care, hygiene, and food — that hold both personal and collective memory. These items act as reminders, steady- ing the ground beneath her. At the same time, her practice is shaped by repeated gestures: twist- ing, tying, sticking. Sometimes almost compulsive, these actions become a way to build within instability. They express a gentle tension — a need to stay afloat despite what’s spilling over or missing.

Through sculpture and installation, Capucine Merle creates a space suspended between refuge and drift. Each element becomes a piece of an imagined home. <Too tight in my jeans> is about being squeezed in, out of place — but still standing. The exhibition unfolds like a fragmented story, traced along sky lines. Electric messages, a central installation, acts as a guiding thread among the stars.
