What vanishes does not always end in absence, and what remains is never simply fixed in place. The pause before utterance becomes language, the delay before a signal gathers into meaning, and the suspension before form hardens into a single name all belong to an unstable time between emergence and residue. In this duration, the audible and the visible are not divided into separate sensory fields, but appear as relations that continue by altering one another’s conditions.

The title 〈24 Preludes, Op. 34: No. 22 in G Minor (Adagio)〉 is placed as a symbolic arrangement. Its sequence of number, key, and Adagio does not unfold a clear narrative; instead, it evokes a notation not yet fully performed. Something legible yet not immediately heard, designated yet not easily completed. The title does not explain the exhibition, but opens a condition in which voice and object, surface and silence, remain suspended between inscription and occurrence.

In Francesco Muggetti’s work, sound approaches language without settling into it. Generated voices, encoded signals, small lights, and electrical devices assume the form of communication, yet what they carry continues to slip away. The minor signals of everyday life are displaced here into an unfamiliar utterance between language and noise. Here, the sonic is not a vessel for information, but an undeciphered presence in itself. Voices that never become speech, interrupted signals, and recurring lights are not failures, but another register of utterance.

Lee Yongbin’s metal works do not close into finished masses; they stand through lines and frames, surfaces and gaps. Structures that begin from virtual images acquire an unfamiliar balance within physical material, yet they never fully fill their interiors, nor do they entirely erase their fictional origins. Metal here is not merely sculptural mass, but a surface where silence comes to dwell. By withholding speech, it does not empty its presence; rather, it produces a sharper density.

The two practices do not translate one another. Sound does not explain sculpture, and sculpture does not reduce sound to image. What matters is not “combination,” but “interval,” and within that interval, each materiality becomes more distinct. What is heard is never fully deciphered, and what is seen never fully reveals itself. Like a refrigerator left ajar, what remains between them is not incompleteness, but a state that continues to announce itself. There, silence becomes the longest lingering note.

〈24 Preludes, Op. 34: No. 22 in G Minor (Adagio)〉라는 제목은 하나의 기호적 배열처럼 놓인다.
